AFS留学生　Eveさんより

AFS留学生として９月から１月末までの予定で、Eve Runquist さんが本校で学んでいます。Eveさんはアメリカのウィスコンシン州の高校生で、現在は本校の１年梅組に在籍しています。Eveさんが来てから早3ヶ月。今ではすっかり本校に溶け込んで日本語もだいぶ上達してきました。本校での感想を書いていただきました。

 

My School Life in Kitakamakura

　I am really glad to be attending Kitakama. All the people here are welcoming and friendly. The classes are interesting, and having the opportunity to join two clubs has helped me integrate with the kids here.

　Despite me joining in the middle of the year, I always feel welcome. I love my friends, and I’m happy that they took initiative to understand my choppy Japanese. With the knowledge they have gained in class, they have helped me whenever I am struggling. My class, 1梅, has made me feel at home – or rather school – since I first arrived.

　The teachers have been a great help as well. Their patience in talking with me is incredible, and all have been a great resource to learn and improve. I know that having native English teachers makes Kitakama special, and I am lucky to have them around. They have supported me from the beginning, and I am not sure what I would do without them.

　I spend a lot of my time outside of class in my clubs, Volleyball and Brass Band, and I always enjoy them. I have made a lot of fun friends in the clubs, and we enjoy ourselves and laugh together. Being in several clubs has truly improved my experience, as well as helped me learn about a side of Japanese culture that few outsiders ever get to see.

　Altogether, I am incredibly happy that I got to come to Kitakama for school and meet all of the wonderful people here. I could not have gone to a better school for my time abroad, and I wish to say thank you to everyone at the school.

北鎌での学校生活

　北鎌倉に通えて本当にうれしいです。皆さんが歓迎し親切にしてくれます。授業も面白いし、２つの部活に入ったので生徒と仲良くなれました。

　学年の途中で入ったにもかかわらず、私をいつも歓迎してくれます。私は友達が大好きですし、彼女たちが率先して私のたどたどしい日本語を理解してくれるのでうれしいです。困っているときにはいつでも助けてくれます。私が初めてクラスの一員になったときから、１梅は私をくつろいだ気持ちにさせてくれています。

　先生方もとても助けてくださり、信じられないほど辛抱強く話を聞いてくれます。あらゆることが学びに役立っています。北鎌にはネイティブの先生方がいらっしゃって、私を最初から支えてくれました。もしネイティブの先生がいなければきっと困ったと思います。

　バレーボールと吹奏楽の２つの部に入り、とても楽しいです。たくさんの愉快な友達もできて一緒に笑い合っています。部活は、普通の外国人が知ることのできない日本文化の一面を教えてくれただけでなく、本当に私の経験を豊かにしてくれています。

　全体的に見て、北鎌に来て素晴らしい人達に会えて、信じられないほど幸せです。留学先としてはベストだと思っています。北鎌の皆さんに感謝しています。

１月末にはイーフさんは帰国します。これからもたくさんの思い出を作ってほしいと思います。
