Last Friday, I had the pleasure of joining the Junior 3 students for musical comedy Aladdin in Tokyo. I was eagerly looking forward to attending the show throughout the week. I have always loved the movie Aladdin since I was a child. It is one of my favourite Disney movies of all time.

During the show, I was so mesmerized I just couldn’t take my eyes off the stage because every scene in the musical was so captivating. The set was incredibly imaginative and thoughtfully designed, which allowed the scene transitions to flow smoothly and creatively from one scene to another. In addition, the actors were wonderful. The genie played by Takiyama Hisashi brought so much joy and laughter to the performance. Some of his scenes were brilliantly hilarious.

Personally, I think that the magic flying carpet ride was the best part of the musical. Words can’t adequately describe how amused I was at that time. Despite not being able to understand the language, it still gave me goose bumps as the song was beautifully sung, accompanied by the astonishing visual effects.

Live theatres gave me something that I couldn’t get from watching movies. It was a very special experience and I am so thankful for such an opportunity. A big thank you to Kakimoto sensei and the Junior 3 teachers for the invitation. I would give this experience an 11 out of 10!
